How can we help?
A real person reads every email. We reply within two working days.
Email us
For anything: a bug, a licence key that will not activate, a refund, a feature you want. Tell us your phone model and Android or iOS version — it saves a round trip.

Everything the app remembers is on your phone, and Settings → Erase everything removes it instantly. To remove what our servers hold, use the form.

Chrome says the APK "may harm your device". Is it safe?
That warning appears for every APK downloaded in a browser, regardless of who made it. Chrome cannot tell one from another, so it warns about all of them.
What you can verify yourself: the file is served from www.cryphone.com over HTTPS, it is signed with our release key, and the signing fingerprint is published in the release notes so it can be checked with apksigner verify --print-certs. When the Play listing is live, install from there instead — Play does that verification for you.
Play Protect says the app is not recognised.
Play Protect flags any app it has not seen distributed through Google Play. It is a statement about distribution, not about a scan finding something. Choose Install anyway.
Will the direct download update itself?
No. There is no update channel outside a store, and we will not add one that silently pushes code to your phone. To get a new version, download and install it again — installing over the existing app keeps all your history, your streak and your companion.
Once the Play listing is live, installing from Play gives you automatic updates.
Is there an iPhone version I can install now?
Not yet. iOS does not permit installing an app from a website — every install goes through the App Store or TestFlight, and both need Apple's review. The iOS build is complete and waiting on that. If you want to be told when it is live, email us and we will add you to the list.
Licence keys and Premium
Where do I enter my licence key?
Settings → Premium → I have a licence key. Paste it or type it — case does not matter and the dashes are added for you.
If the app says the key is not recognised, check you bought it on www.cryphone.com rather than in a store. A store subscription is not a key and does not need one; it activates by itself.
I paid but no key arrived.
Check spam first, then the Premium page — the key appears on screen the moment the payment confirms, and "Email my key" re-sends it to the address that paid.
If neither works, email us with the payment reference Razorpay showed you. Do not pay again. We reconcile Razorpay's records against ours by hand and issue the key; a duplicate payment just means a refund to process.
How many devices can one key cover?
Five at once. In the app on a device you no longer use, go to Settings → Premium → Remove from this device to free a slot — worth doing before you sell or trade in a phone.
If you are out of slots and cannot reach an old device, email us and we will release it.
Premium stopped working and I am still paying.
Open the app with a working connection: it re-verifies within a few seconds. If it still says free, check the key on the Premium page — that tells you whether the problem is the key or the app.
For a store subscription, use Settings → Premium → Restore purchases. Restoring asks the store what you own, which is authoritative in a way the app's own cache is not.
How do I cancel?
Bought in the app on Android: Google Play → Subscriptions. On iPhone: Settings → your Apple Account → Subscriptions. We cannot cancel a store subscription for you — the store does not give us that power.
Bought on this website: there is nothing to cancel. A website purchase is a fixed term, we keep no card on file, and Premium simply stops on the day the term ends. If you want it to stop sooner, use Settings → Premium → Remove from this device — and if you bought within the last 14 days and used the key on no more than one device, email us for a full refund instead.
Can I get a refund?
Website purchase: full refund within 14 days if the key has been used on no more than one device. Email us the key. Beyond that we refund where the app is broken in a way we cannot fix.
Store purchase: refunds go through Google or Apple, who hold the money. Google Play refunds are requested at play.google.com/store/account; Apple's at reportaproblem.apple.com. If they decline and you think we should make it right, tell us.
The app itself
It did not notice when I dropped my phone.
On iPhone, drops are detected while CryPhone is open. iOS suspends background apps and delivers no motion data to a suspended app without a background mode Apple reserves for fitness and navigation apps. We will not claim otherwise.
On Android, it runs in the background where the system allows it. Several manufacturers stop background apps aggressively to save battery — if drops are being missed, allow CryPhone to run in the background and exclude it from battery optimisation in your phone's settings. Where the exemption is refused, the app catches up on what it missed the next time you open it.
A drop onto a soft surface from a short height can also be genuinely below what the accelerometer distinguishes from being set down firmly. The app would rather miss that than invent a drop that did not happen.
Can it tell if my phone got wet?
No. No consumer phone exposes a moisture reading to an app. Some Android devices raise their own USB-port moisture warning, and where the system broadcasts that, CryPhone reacts to it — it is relaying your phone's warning, not sensing water.
Does it detect a slap or a tap?
A sharp impact, yes. A light tap on a phone lying still is within the accelerometer's noise floor on many devices, so we do not pretend to detect it. The app reacts to what it can actually measure.
Why is it not speaking?
Check the voice toggle in Settings, then your media volume, then quiet hours — the app stays silent during the hours you set. On Android, text-to-speech needs a speech engine and a language pack installed; if the system has none, the app shows the line as text instead of failing silently.
Will it drain my battery?
It listens to the accelerometer at a low rate and batches sensor readings, which is the low-power path the OS provides for exactly this. Real-world use is a small single-digit percentage a day. If you see more than that, tell us your phone model — that is a bug worth chasing, and battery figures from a real device are the only useful evidence.
Turning off motion sensing in Settings removes essentially all of it, at the cost of drop detection.
I lost my history after reinstalling.
History lives on the device and nowhere else — that is what makes the privacy promise on this site true, and it is also the cost of it. Uninstalling removes it, and we have no copy to restore. A licence key is recoverable; a streak is not.
Can I move my companion to a new phone?
Your licence key moves — enter it on the new phone. The mood history, friendship level and streak do not, because they were never uploaded. Transfer is on the list of things we want to add in a way that does not require sending your history to a server.
Privacy
What actually leaves my phone?
Three things: the text of a message you send to the AI companion (Premium only), a random device identifier used for rate limiting and licence binding, and — only if you leave the toggle on — anonymous crash and usage reports. Your name is not sent even with an AI message; the model writes a placeholder and the app fills it in locally.
Everything else stays on the device. The full detail is in the Privacy Policy, including a table of every data type and where it goes.
Do you read my conversations?
No, and we could not: replies are generated in transit and neither the message nor the reply is stored on our servers. Nothing about your conversations is written to our logs — we log the device identifier and token counts, which is what an abuse investigation needs, and deliberately not the content.
How do I stop the diagnostics?
Settings → Privacy → Share anonymous diagnostics. It takes effect immediately and the app works identically without it.
